Necklace Project Day 33

Today was another day where I almost didn't wear a necklace at all again. I wasn't sure until about 30 minutes before my class whether or not I was going to go. I am still not feeling 100% but I figure since I was just going to be sitting in class I would risk it. I am glad I did since I did the wrong assignment for today and wouldn't have gotten the explanation I needed. I am feeling better now anyway.

This chain used to be gold, but it was one of those less expensive necklaces so the gold wore off. But I found that I liked to copper underneath so I added a simple crystal heart pendant to it. I don't wear this one very often probably because it is so plain and I don't have too many copper earrings since it irritates my ears. And the crystal isn't quite as pretty as some of my other crystal pendants.

Necklace Project Day 32

Nope, I did not fall behind again, I just didn't wear a necklace for a couple of days. On Saturday I was just so sick that I didn't do much of anything so there was no need for a necklace. And on Sunday I didn't realize I had no jewelry on until after I had gotten to church. When I was driving back to Laramie I didn't see the need to be wearing a necklace. So today I wore a necklace for four hours during my internship class then came home, took off my jewelry and changed into some comfy clothes (I am still feeling pretty yucky).

I bought this necklace set with earrings from JC Penneys online a few years ago. I was ordering some shirts but my total was just below the limit for free shipping. So I looked at their clearance jewelry and found this set that would put me over the free shipping total. I have found that since I have bought this set I have purchased a lot of purple shirts. It isn't my favorite color but I seem to be drawn to it. I also have received many compliments on this necklace because it looks so elegant on. It is pretty light weight since it is just plastic beads, but I wonder what it would be like if I found a way to make something similar out of Swarovski pearls or freshwater pearls?

Necklace Project Days 30 & 31

Yep, got behind again. Seems to be becoming a pattern. Part of me wanted to just say screw it and stop the other day.But I really want to get through all of my necklaces. So even if I get behind and have to post a whole weeks worth of necklaces I am going to do it. I hope I am finished with this project before I graduate (in 77 days, HOLY CRAP!!!!!!). But if I am not then that is okay. I am having fun with this.

I made this necklace because I thought it would be helpful to have one that had a whole bunch of different colors then I could wear with a lot of different outfits. The beads are all semi precious stones, mostly agate and quarts. What I should have done is save some of the beads so I could have made some earrings to go with it. Oh well, just another excuse to buy more beads.

I think this is my last dichroic pendant. It looks like a partially flattened marble, but it is so pretty. I found this pendant in a mess of my Mom's stuff a while ago and couldn't figure out what to do with it. So I just decided to make a simple necklace out of it. I think my sister probably wants to steal it, but I keep it hidden so she doesn't.

Necklace Project Day 29

So I lent this necklace that I wore today to my sister on Sunday. So when I wore it today my niece informed me that the necklace wasn't mine but her Mommy's. I guess a 4 year old doesn't understand the concept of borrowing because we continues to argue over who's necklace it was. Fun times.

I love this necklace. It was given to me for Christmas from my future sister-in-law and my brother. It is an antique crystal pendant. It is so very breathtaking. I always get complements on it whenever I wear it. Now if only I can find some antique crystals for earrings. I have some Czech crystal earrings, but they aren't quite as pretty.

Necklace Project Day 28

Whoo Hoo! Two posts in one day. Too bad the first one was a catch up. So anyway, I was trying to figure out which necklace today but I decided to just start randomly pick them.

I bought this necklace because I had a bracelet that was similar to it that I purchased from Avon to raise funds to stop domestic violence. The infinity symbol was used to help change the cycle. It is sterling silver and so basic that I can pretty much wear it with anything.

Necklace Project Days 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, & 27 (Yikes)

So yeah, I got a little behind on my posts. I still took pictures I just got so busy and tired to post at the end of the day. Here is the necklaces I have worn for the last six days. Problem is I don't remember which days I wore what except for a couple of them. But here goes on by descriptions.

This is a simple double wishbone necklace I think I picked up at either Walmart or Kmart after St. Patrick's Day one day. I was looking through my necklaces to see how far I had gotten on my little project and I am only about 1/5 of the way through my necklaces. And I also discovered that I have a lot more silver necklaces than gold. I think it is because most gold necklaces that are inexpensive tend to wear off quicker and don't look as good as the silver.

I actually wore two necklaces on Valentines day because of the outfit that I wore for my date with Justin. This is a gorgeous set that he gave be at Christmas, so I wanted to wait to wear it on a special night with the dress that he bought for me. At first I was worried that this set would be too bulky, but it is beautiful when it is on.

I wore this necklace during the day on Valentines day at the school. The school is in the middle of their Make a Wish fundraiser so each day is themed. Valentines day was Pink Day, so I wore this sterling silver snake chain with Swarovski crystals. I bought this piece at a Craft Show up in Cody with every intention of giving it to my sister Kelly, who loves pink. But I liked it so much I kept it. And I have made a few necklaces like this for other people.

I bought this necklace on Ebay because I didn't have any copper necklaces and I thought this one was pretty. It is a 2" locket. I found a family picture that we took right before we moved up to Wyoming that fit in it. Unfortunately I had to cut part of the family off. In the picture there was all of my immediate family plus one brother-in-law and one nephew. Since that picture was taken we have added another brother-in-law, an almost sister-in-law, two more nephews, and four nieces. So I didn't think it was fair to have just one in the locket. So I cut them out.

Again this is a necklace that I bought at an after something sale at Walmart or Kmart because I thought the necklace was pretty. You can't tell by the picture but there are actually crystals dispersed throughout the tree. The only problem I have with this necklace is that it has a tendency to get tangles really easily.

This is my newest necklace, courtousy of my sister Anne. It is a belated Christmas present. It is a glass pendent that has a quote from Pride and Prejudice on it. It says "In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you." It is a line from Darcy. I love Pride and Prejudice along with all of the other Jane Austin books. I am going to have to try really hard not to wear this necklace over and over. Until I am finished with this little project.

Hopefully I will not get this behind again.  :)

Necklace Project Day 21

I was just about to take the picture of my necklace tonight, had the black bust all set up with the necklace on it, got the camera out, and what to you know? The battery was dead. I had to rummage through my desk to try and find the charger (because I am not smart enough to have a digital camera that uses AA batteries). I had to let it charge for a little while to take one picture. But then after I had let it charge for about 30 minutes I was ready to take the picture and the memory card was full. So I am going to have to transfer the pictures to the computer and then back them up so I don't loose anything. Finally I was able to take the picture for the blog tonight. Phew, I wasn't sure it was going to happen tonight. :)

This is a cloisonne pendent with flowers and butterflies. It has the same picture on both sides so I have a habit of fiddling a lot with this necklace when I am wearing it. It has gold accents so I have it on a gold chain. I have always like butterflies so I have a few pendents and earrings. I found this necklace at the thrift store that I volunteered in up in Worland. I always liked looking at the jewelry that would come into the shop because so much of it was so cool. I have a few other pieces that I bought there that I either have worn a lot or I am planning on taking apart and using the pieces for something else.

Necklace Project Day 20

This is getting harder and I am only 20 days into it. It is hard because I keep trying to go back to the favorite necklaces because it is easier than trying to figure out what goes with my outfits. But then again I am having so much fun rediscovering all of my necklaces. I am just wondering which will be my last. And why would I save it for the last if it wasn't because I just don't really care for that piece. Hmmmm, we will have to see.

Now this picture doesn't do this necklace justice at all but it is the best I could do. i seem to be saying that a lot but I am no photographer, so this is what I get. This is a beautiful little pendent that my wonderful future sister-in-law gave me a few years ago. You  can't tell in this picture but the stone is actually a kind of purple/blue crystal. It depends on what I wear.

Necklace Project Day 19

I didn't think when I started this little experiment that I would run into this problem. But today I actually had to borrow a necklace. There was a particular pair of earrings that I wanted to wear today with my outfit for church but I had worn the only gold necklaces I had brought from Laramie. So I had to borrow a necklace from Kelly. It probably wouldn't have mattered if I had worn a necklace or not today for church because I kept my scarf on the whole time and no one saw my necklace. Oh well.
The maroon pillow I took this picture on dulls down the soft peach of the earrings. I made these earrings as an experiment on a new pattern and fell in love with them. I have been meaning to make more in different colors but they are so big that I guess I don't feel they are very practice to wear as often as I would like. I have no idea where Kelly got this necklace, I only know that she has had it for a while.

Necklace Project Day 18

I almost didn't wear a necklace today. I just didn't have that much to do so I didn't figure it was even worth it  to wear one.  But I decided that I might go out some time today and I have so many pretty necklaces that I might as well wear one.
This is another necklace that I copy after the Swarovski necklace I bought on the cruise ship. It is a Swarovski crystal Golden Shadow Polygon pendent on a leather string. Today was actually the first time I have worn this necklace. I tried to sell it at a craft show but no one seemed to want it, so I kept it. That happens a lot.

Necklace Project Days 15, 16, and 17

Yep, got three days behind this time. The only excuse I have is that I was so very tired from driving, then cooking, and now working that I just haven't gotten on here. I found that it is easy for me to take to pictures, but now that I have a kindle fire which doesn't have a slot for a memory card, I just don't get around to posting. But here are the necklaces I have worn for the last three days.
This first necklace is a beautiful gold necklace that Justin gave me for Christmas last year. He also gave me some simple gold studs to go with it. I tried to take a picture of it against the wall but it wouldn't show up in the picture. So I had to take it on a pillow. I have thought about adding a pendant but I am worried that it might scratch up the gold. And it is just so pretty on it's own.
Kelly asked me yesterday where I got this necklace and I had to think about it for a minute. I think I bought this necklace on either Overstock.com or Gem Stone King store on eBay  It is sad that I can't remember. I know that it is made of sterling silver and has diamond chips. It is very delicate and I had forgotten about it until I was digging around in my jewelry armoire.
This last one was given to me by my friend in Silver City who would buy raw stones and settings and put them together. This is a blue fire opal set in gold. I really need to find some earrings to match this necklace. I don't have very many pieces of opal, since it is my birthstone. So I treasure each piece of opal that I have.

Necklace Project Day 14

Not only do I really like buying jewelry, I love making it. I keep a lot of it, give away most the rest, and try to sell some of it. But when I am selling it I am really just trying to get more money in order to buy more jewelry making materials. It is a vicious cycle. But I enjoy making jewelry because it relaxes me. I like creating pretty things. It makes me feel like I have actually accomplished something and someone other than me will enjoy it.

This necklace was inspired by one that a friend of mine has. It is a flat fresh water pearl on a copper chain. Actually I think it is a plastic bead meant to look like a flat fresh water pearl, but it is pretty so I don't care. I found this bead while at my orientation for my Graduate program, it was sitting next to a mossy rock. I think I will probably make more of these with some semi-precious stones.

Necklace Project Day 13

I realized as I was getting dressed this morning that I have a lot of crystal pendents. I guess I really like things that sparkle. Which kind of gives me an excuse for the reason why I bought more Swarovski crystals today at Micheal's. I haven't decided if I am going to use them to make something for myself, for a present, or for something to sell. I guess I will just have to make something and find out.
This is a checkerboard Czech crystal pendant. The difference between a Czech crystal and a Swarovski is the Czech crystals don't have as precise edges as the Swarovski crystals. But with the AB (Aurora Borialis) finish on this pendent it doesn't matter to me because it still catches the light and sparkles and sends of rainbows. Like I said Sparkles!!!

Necklace Project Day 12

So I have to go back to the blog post from the night before to make sure I am on the right day. I think it was yesterday I was getting ready to get dressed but I had to stop and thing of what necklace I was going to wear and if I had clothes that would work with it.  The problem is that I am currently living in two places. I pack while I am in Laramie, where all of my jewelry is, on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning for the rest of the week in Green River, where I live mostly out of a suitcase. So Saturday I wasn't sure if I had the right jewelry to match the clothes I had with me. Then I was trying to decide what I was going to wear to church today by thinking about what necklaces I had left to wear and what dresses I had. I think I was able to pull together a decent outfit this way. So the moral of this story is I plan my entire outfits around what jewelry I am planning on wearing that day.

I am not sure how well this one shows up on the black bust, but this is what I have. So I made this necklace back in high school. It is one of my favorite pieces because I feel like I can dress it up and dress it down. This was really one of the first stitches I learned when I first started making beaded jewelry. I think Mom adapted this necklace from what was suppose to be a strap for an amulet bag necklace. It is a simple netting stitch, but I think it is fun to use because the necklaces can come together so quickly and you could add crystals or pearls if you wanted to.

Necklace Project Day 10 & 11

Yeah, another double day. I was just way to tired last night to write up a post. So here we go on two necklaces.

This necklace is actually my take one I bought from the swarovski store on the cruise ship. It is a swarovski checkerboard crystal on a leather string. I really like to wear this one when I am not having to do anything too formal. And it is red, which is my favorite color. So it is a win-win.

This is another one of my Dichroic pendants. I have bought these pendants separately and then I have to find a way to string them. But I really like the gold and blue in this pendant because I don't have to many gold necklaces.
